WORCESTER, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's swimming team fell to host Worcester Polytechnic Institute at the WPI Sports and Recreation Center Thursday evening.
The men lost, 195-82, while the women fell, 175-116.
For the women, freshman Caroline Corcoran (West Boylston, MA/ West Boylston) won the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:38.28, junior Katelyn Kidney (Lynn, MA / Lynn Classical) took the 500 freestyle in 5:35.59, and senior Meredith Maki (Holden, MA/ Wachusett Regional HS) won the 200 individual medley in 2:22.32. "The score is not indicative of how we swam in tonight's meet," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "We had some great races and times tonight, but were simply beaten by depth. We are swimming tired coming off double sessions, and will begin tapering next week."
UMass Dartmouth's women are now 6-3, while the men are 3-4. WPI's men are 6-3, and the women are 6-3. The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Plymouth State Saturday.
