NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's swimming and diving team lost their first home contest of the year to Babson College by a score of 163-74 on Saturday afternoon at the Tripp Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
Top performer for the Corsair's swimming team was sophomore Brian Baranick (Assonet, Mass.) who placed first in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:09.53. Other notable performers were Robert Muir (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) who placed second in 100 yard backstroke with a time of 57.46, Michael Gryss (New Bedford, Mass.) with a second place finish in the 100 yard butterfly, and Brian McCauley (Franklin Mass.) with a third place finish in the 500 yard freestyle.
The diving team was a clear cut winner in the one meter and three meter diving events. Seniors Christian Francia (Hampton, N.H.) took home first place in both events with scores of 248.60 and 209.15., while classmate Conor Szarek (Leominster, Mass.) placed directly behind Francia in the one and three meter.
UMass Dartmouth hosts the University of New England next Saturday at 1 p.m.
