Swimmers Shine at ECAC Championships

PITTSBURGH, PA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's swimming team turned in a couple of strong performances on the first day of action at the three-day Eastern College Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Pittsburgh's Trees Pool Friday.

Senior Craig Johnson (Acushnet, MA/New Bedford HS) finished 25th in the 50 yard freestyle in 21.82 seconds, while senior David Adams (Tyngsboro, MA/Tyngsboro HS) was 46th in 22.45 seconds in the same event.

"Craig swam especially well today," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "Our relay will be trying to make it to the finals tomorrow, and Craig is hoping to make it in the 100 fly tomorrow as well."

The championships will continue Saturday and conclude Sunday.
