BABSON PARK, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's swimming team fell to host Babson in a dual meet at the Morse Swimming Center Saturday. The Babson men won, 123-110, and the women prevailed, 133-106.
Women's winners included junior Kim Moore (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS), who won the 1000 freestyle in 11:42.40, sophomore Meredith Maki (Holden, MA/Wachusett HS), who won the 200 freestyle in 2:12.02, sophomore Cecilia Rius (Rockville, MD/Richard Montgomery HS), who won the one meter diving with a score of 202.40, and sophomore Morgan Cooper (Sunderland, MA/Frontier Regional HS) who won the 100 butterfly in 1:04.3. "We swam really well," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "We swam much faster than we swam last week. Babson is a strong team, and I was pretty pleased, it was a close, hard-fought meet. Hopefully, we'll take a lot away from this and improve going into our match next weekend."
UMass Dartmouth's men and women both dropped to 1-1 with the losses, while the Beaver men improved to 2-0 and the women improved to 1-1 with the victories.
The Corsairs will return to action when they host the University of New England next Saturday.
