Karsten Rathlev Earns LEC Weekly Tennis Honor

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Junior Karsten Rathlev (Winchester, MA/Winchester HS the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's tennis team has been honored by the Little East Conference.

Rathlev has been named LEC Men's Tennis Player of the Week.

Rathlev went 3-0 in two matches last week as the Corsairs opened their season with a 2-0 mark. He downed Tim Howard of Becker at number one singles, 6-1, 6-2, then defeated Jeff DeNunzio of Roger Williams, 6-3, 6-2 at the number one position while combining with junior Guillaume Cotte (Grenoble, France) for an 8-5 win over Ryan Swanson and Jason Pacino of the Hawks at number one doubles.

"Karsten has been doing a great job for us, both in playing the number one position and as a captain," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Tom Mendell. "He's been playing very well, and doing a good job as a captain, helping out other players on the team."

The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Eastern Nazarene Wednesday afternoon.
