NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- Five members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's tennis team have earned post-season Little East Conference honors.
Juniors Karsten Rathlev (Winchester, MA/Winchester HS), Brennan Dugas (East Falmouth, MA/Falmouth HS/New York City Tech), Guillaume Cotte (Grenoble, France) and Mike Parker (Scituate, MA/Scituate HS) and sophomore Matt Bejtlich (Rochester, MA/Moses Brown HS) were honored.
Dugas was named first team All-Conference at number four singles, while Parker earned first team honors at number five singles. Rathlev and Cotte were named first team All-Conference at number one doubles, while Dugas and Bejtlich earned first team honors at number two doubles. Rathlev and Cotte earned second team honors at number one and two singles, respectively.
Dugas was 7-1 overall and 5-0 in LEC play, while Parker was 12-2 overall and 6-0 against LEC foes. Rathlev and Cotte were 9-1 and 4-0 in the Little East, while Dugas and Bejtlich were 6-2 and 4-1 in LEC action. Rathlev was 9-2 at number one singles, and 5-1 in LEC play, while Cotte was 10-1 and 3-1 in LEC action.
"I thought it was very fair, except, at times, players are punished for playing out of their normal position, which happens when they have to miss a match due to class conflicts," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Tom Mendell.
The Corsairs finished 13-3, won the LEC regular season title and tournament championship, and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Division III Championships.
