NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's tennis team will complete their non-traditional season when they participate at the Stonehill Invitational this weekend.
Action will take place Saturday and Sunday, and there will be four singles flights and one doubles flight, involving six players from each of the eight teams entered in double-elimination competition. A win in the championship portion of the competition earns a team two points, while a victory in consolation action is worth one point.
"Last year, (senior) Karsten Rathlev (Winchester, MA/Winchester HS) won the number one singles flight in the championship division, our team came in third out of eight teams, and we won three consolation flights," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Tom Mendell.
Rathlev, sophomore Patrick Lewis (Dorchester, MA/Dorchester HS), junior Matt Bejtlich (Rochester, MA/Moses Brown HS), and senior Mike Parker (Scituate, MA/Scituate HS) will represent the Corsairs in singles this weekend, while junior Zach Engstrom (Taunton, MA/Taunton HS) and sophomore Ray Lawton (Fairhaven, MA/Fairhaven HS) will play doubles.
