Men's Tennis Opens Spring Season With Non-League Setback At Wheaton

NORTON, Mass. --  The UMass Dartmouth men’s tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2018-19 schedule on Saturday afternoon by dropping a 9-0 non-league dual-match decision to Wheaton at Beard Fieldhouse.

Juniors Ned Roosevelt (New York, N.Y.) and Jorge Aguirre Martinez (Madrid, Spain), sophomore Esteban de Celis as well as freshmen Ian Tracy (San Jose, Costa Rica) and David Hernaez Sanz (Madrid, Spain) each were winners in singles and doubles action in the sweep for the host Lyons (2-0).

The visiting Corsairs fall to 0-3 overall on the season with the setback.

UMass Dartmouth resumes its spring schedule on Wednesday, March 20th when the Corsairs host Curry in a non-league dual-match on the UMD Courts beginning at 3:30 pm, while Wheaton entertains Stonehill in a non-league dual-match on Sunday afternoon on the Clark Tennis Courts beginning at 4:00 pm.
