Conor Paces Corsairs At New England Championships
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Sophmore Justin Conor (Holden, Mass.) posted the second fastest time in the 60-meter hurdles in University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's indoor track and field program history this afternoon at the 2014 New England Division III Championships. The Corsairs registered 28 team points.
Conor tripped the timer at 8.66 seconds in the preliminary heat to place ninth overall just missing out on an appearance in the finals.
Classmate Brandon Jarousky (Attleboro, Mass.) registered a third place finish in the 200-meter dash. He won his preliminary heat and posted a time of 22.73 seconds in the finals.
Junior Matt Ferro (Halifax, Mass.) earned a spot on the podium in the 1,000-meter run, logging a fifth-place time of two minutes, 35.48 seconds. Senior Matthew Hinthorne (Braintree, Mass.) was the seventh fastest runner in the 800-meter run (1:57.47). Freshman Chris Cennami (Peabody, Mass.) just missed the finals in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.15 seconds.
Junior Adam Jones (Amesbury, Mass.) cleared 6-4.00 in the high jump to place third overall. Freshman Kevin Cutler (Attleboro, Mass.) also had a strong showing in the high jump with a leap of 6-02.00. Junior Cody Lusas (Melrose, Mass.) registered his best indoor throw in the shot put with a mark of 45-3.75 to place 10th overall.
The UMass Dartmouth 4x800-meter relay team, comprised of senior Zachary Switaj (Tamworth, N.H.), sophomore Ryan Hayes (Kingston, Mass.), freshman Kurtis Dreher (Dartmouth, Mass.), and Hinthorne, combined for a fourth-place time of seven minutes, 58.95 seconds.
UMass Dartmouth will return to action on Friday, February 28, when the Corsairs compete at the New England Open Championships.
