PAWTUCKET, R.I. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's track and field team earned a pair of Little East Conference accolades with Jared Louf-Woods (Salem, Mass.) taking his third field athlete of the week nod and Moisse Irizarry (Peabody, Mass.) earning rookie track athlete of the week recognition.
Louf-Woods stood out at the Open New England Championships placing third in the weight-throw with his personal-best toss of 62'87" (19.12 meters). The mark re-broke a school-record he set on January 13th and gave him control of the top-ranking in division III after a weeklong absence from it. The senior was not finished as he broke his second indoor school-record of the weekend, this time in the shot put when he tossed another personal best at 15.51 meters to finish sixth and move to #23 nationally in the event.
On the track, Irizarry nabbed his first-ever collegiate honor after posting the third quickest time in school history for the 60-meter hurdles, racing to an 8.59 second finish to take first-place at the Wesleyan Invitational and qualify for the New England Division III Championships.
