CAMBRIDGE, MA-Senior Eric Nygaard (Medway, MA/Medway HS) and junior Meagan Bohigian (Barre, MA/Quabbin Regional HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's outdoor track and field team turned in the top performances on the final day of action at the New England Division III Championships, hosted by MIT at Steinbrenner Stadium Friday.
Nygaard finished fourth at 800 meters in 1:55.27, the third best time ever at UMass Dartmouth.
In the hammer throw, junior Robert Yarbough (Fall River, MA/Durfee HS) finished with a toss of 153 feet.
For the women, junior Meagan Bohigian (Barre, MA/Quabbin Regional HS) finished 12th at 1500 meters in 4:53.70, which is her second best time ever. She finished the first 800 meters of the race in 2:30. Junior Emily Migre (Whitman, MA/Whitman-Hanson HS) was ninth in the javelin at 110 feet, nine inches, while sophomore Kim Urena (Marlborough, MA/Marlborough HS) was 16th at 400 meters in 1:00.43.
"Eric had to come out of the unseeded heat in the 800, and I was pleased with how strong and aggressively he ran," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve Gardiner. "Megan has improved dramatically throughout the year, and she has had a phenomenal outdoor season."
