Corsairs 21st at NCAA Division III Cross Country Regionals

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA-Both of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's cross country teams finished 21st at the NCAA Division III Regional Championships, hosted by Williams at Mount Greylock High School Saturday.
UMass Dartmouth's men scored 603 points, and were 21st in a 49-team field in the eight kilometer race. MIT won the race with 93 points. The Corsair women scored 674 points and were 21st of 51 teams. Middlebury was first with 58 points in the six kilometer competition.
For the men, senior Nick Santoro (Shrewsbury, MA/St. John's HS) finished 65th in 27:11, junior Steve Burke (Norwell, MA/Norwell HS) was 104th in 28:04, junior Kevin Gilmore (Hanson, MA/ Whitman-Hanson HS) was 110th in 28:08, senior Eric Nygaard (Medway, MA/Medway HS) was 133rd in 28:30, freshman Cody Gibney (New Bedford, MA/Greater New Bedford Vo Tech HS) was 191st in 29:40, senior Wes Meserve (Merrimack, MA/Merrimack HS) finished 204th in 30:00, and junior Steve Dowsett (Pittsfield, MA/Pittsfield HS) finished 253rd in 31:21.
For the women, freshman Dekontee Chea (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) was 53rd in 23:58, junior Meaghan Bohigian (Barre, MA/Quabbin Regional HS) was 90th in 24:52, junior Stacey Dybel (Littleton, MA/Notre Dame Academy) was 152nd in 25:54, junior Courtney Testa (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) finished 158th in 26:03, and freshman Kelci Sullivan (Hanson, MA/Whitman-Hanson HS) finished 221st in 27:06.
"Even though neither team was at full strength, they held up well in one of the strongest regions in the country," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jon Hird. "Both teams had to work through injuries, and they did the best they could."
The meet was the final competition of the season for the Corsairs.
