NORTHAMPTON, MA - For the third day in a row, a member of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's basketball team has received a prestigious post-season honor.
Senior forward Colleen Moriarty (Canton, MA/Canton HS) has been named All-Northeast Region by d3hoops.com.
Moriarty was one of only 20 players named All-Northeast Region, and one of only three from the Little East Conference. She was previously named first team All-Little East Conference, and LEC Player of the Year. She was the only LEC player to receive first team All-Region honors and was one of only two Little East Conference players so honored.
"It is an honor for Colleen to be named to d3hoops.com's Women's All-Northeast Region Second Team," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Amanda Van Voorhis. "In speaking on her behalf, Colleen wishes to thank her teammates for the hard work and commitment they put forth to reach the LEC championship, which made for an unforgettable senior season. I am very proud of Colleen. She recently sent me an old photograph of the two of us in the Canton Gymnasium four years ago. It made me reflect on our wonderful journey together. As a coach, it is a rewarding feeling to have witnessed such growth and maturation in a student-athlete."
Moriarty helped lead the Corsairs to their most successful season ever, as they won a school-record total of 20 games and eight conference games, and advanced to the LEC championship game for the first time, finishing with a 20-8 record.
