Molly Brown enters her first season as an assistant coach for the UMass Dartmouth women’s basketball program in the 2017-18 season. A four-year member of the Bates women’s basketball team, the South Dartmouth native was the recipient of the 2011-12 Maine Rookie of the Year Award and was also named NESCAC Player of the Week in December of her senior season. Additionally, Brown spent four years as a representative on the Student-Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Emerging Leaders Program.
As co-captain of the Bobcats during the 2014-15 campaign, Brown averaged 18.5 PPG in 32.4 minutes per game and shot 38% from beyond the arc. Her 38 three-pointers were a team-high for the Bates women’s hoops program that season. In 46 career games played, Brown finished with 658 total points.
Immediately after graduating in May 2015 with a degree in psychology and a minor in sociology, Brown took up an assistant coach’s role at Connecticut College for the 2015-16 season. Her guidance propelled the Camels to their first top-25 finish in program history.
Brown then returned home as the assistant basketball coach at her high-school alma-mater for the 2016-17 academic year. She has continued to remain in touch with her hometown as she has spent each of the last six summers as the assistant director of the Dartmouth Recreational Camp. There, she serves as the supervisor to counselors and children at the day camp and organizes activities and trips.
