NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's cheerleading team won one meet and finished second in the other one last weekend.

Saturday, UMass Dartmouth finished second in a four-team field at the New England Cheerleading Championships at the Ryan Center at Rhode Island. The Corsairs scored 87.5 points. Quinnipiac was first with 88.5 points, Central Connecticut State was third with 87, and Mount Ida fourth with 67.

Sunday, the Corsairs finished first in a six-team meet at the East Elite Invitational at Marlborough High School. UMass Dartmouth had 88 points, New Hampshire and UMass each had 82.5, Framingham State was next with 79.5, Salem State had 77.5 and Assumption 74.

"I was extremely pleased with our performance on Sunday against two Division I teams and three Division II teams that we will be competing against in Daytona," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Scott Bouchard. "We didn't perform as well Saturday, but we will make the corrections for our next competition."

The Corsairs are scheduled to compete at the National Cheerleading Association Championships in Daytona Beach, FL April 9th-13th.
