UMass Dartmouth Cheerleaders Second After First Day of NCA Championships

April 10, 2008

DAYTONA BEACH, FL--The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's cheerleading team is in a familiar place after the first day of action at the two-day, All-Girl Division II National Cheerleading Association Championships at the Ocean Center.

The Corsairs are in second place, half a point out of first place with a score of 8.456 to 8.506 for first place Slippery Rock. They are one of 11 teams that will participate in Friday's finals and one of 21 teams that began the competition. UMass Dartmouth finished second last season and won their third NCA championship two seasons ago.

"We had two deductions, and we will make the corrections to we won't have them tomorrow," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Scott Bouchard. "Overall, I am pleased with where we are, and I think we'll come back even stronger tomorrow."

The championships will conclude Friday.
