NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's cheerleading team is off to a good start.

The Corsairs, who finished second last season at the National Cheerleading Association All-Girls Division II Championships, won their first two meets this spring.

UMass Dartmouth defeated Central Connecticut State, 166.5-150 at the New Haven Field House March 15th. The Corsairs also received the Best Choreography Award at the meet. Last Saturday, UMass Dartmouth defeated Worcester State, 92-76 at the Spirit Challenge Competition at Northbridge High School.

"We did extremely well or the first two times out," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Scott Bouchard. "It was good preparation, and it will help us get ready to go to nationals at Daytona Beach."

The Corsairs will return to action this weekend. Saturday, they will participate in the New England Cheerleading Championships at the Ryan Center at Rhode Island. Sunday, they will compete in the East Elite Invitational at Marlborough High School.
