ANNAPOLIS, MD-Freshman forward Cory Connolly (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's field hockey team has received another prestigious post-season honor.
Connolly has been named to the 2012 NCAA Division III All-Rookie Team by Synapse Sports.
Connolly earned second team All-Little East Conference honors, and was also named LEC Rookie of the Year. One of only 16 players in the nation named to the squad, Connolly was the only Little East Conference player chosen. She was second on the Corsairs in scoring with 12 goals and six assists for 30 points, and was tied for 10th in the LEC in goals.
"We worked hard on our freshman recruiting class, and I knew Cory would be an impact player, and would get playing time," Castonguay added. "She stepped up in a big way when we found out that Eleanor (Taylor) would be out for the season."
The Corsairs went 17-6 this fall, winning the LEC championship and advancing to the NCAA Division III Championships for the third time in four seasons.
