FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Three different players scored goals to lead UMass Dartmouth to a 3-1 Little East Conference field hockey victory over Framingham State Wednesday evening at Maple Street Field.
Sophomore Brittany Perry (Dighton, Mass.) staked the visiting Corsairs (1-5, 1-2 LEC) to a 1-0 halftime advantage with an unassisted tally in the 19th minute of play, and junior Bridget Harrington (Northampton, Mass.) extended that margin to 2-0 just 7:03 after intermission when she converted a pass from senior Ciara Anderson (Medway, Mass.). Sophomore Grace Sylvia (Dartmouth, Mass.) netted UMass Dartmouth’s final marker of the night in the 48th minute on a feed from freshman Kylie Dias (Fall River, Mass.), and the host Rams (1-3, 0-3 LEC) accounted for the final margin when senior Meaghann Ackerman (Littleton, Mass.) converted a pass from fellow senior Bailey Donelly (Framingham, Mass.) with 2:03 remaining in the match.
Senior Alison Burke (Franklin, Mass.) made three saves to pick up the win in goal for the Corsairs, while freshman Grace Pushor (Old Town, Maine) made 11 stops in the setback for Framingham State. UMass Dartmouth outshot the Rams by a 26-5 margin overall (14-4 on goal) and held a 14-3 edge in penalty corners for the contest.
UMass Dartmouth hosts Westfield State in a Little East Conference match on Saturday morning at Cressy Field beginning at 11:00 am, while Framingham State travels to Worcester, Mass. on Friday evening for a Little East clash with Worcester State that begins at 7:00 pm.
