SCOTTSDALE, AZ-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's field hockey team and five members of the squad have earned post-season academic honors.

The Corsairs were one of the teams honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, receiving a National Academic Team Award for having a team grade point average in excess of 3.0. In addition, senior midfielder Jacke Anderson (Medway, MA/Medway HS), senior defender Kate Dorrance (Rehoboth, MA/ Dighton-Rehoboth HS), senior midfielder Becca Festinger (Greenfield, MA/Greenfield HS), senior midfielder Kellie Ann Finn (Falmouth, MA/Falmouth HS/St. Michael's), and sophomore defender Michaela Johnston (Mansfield, MA/Mansfield HS) were named to the National Collegiate Academic Squad for having grade point averages of 3.30 or better.

"One of my favorite things about coaching at UMD is the wide range of academic focus within the student-athlete community," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Nicole Castonguay. "You have Jacke Anderson, who will be graduating with a 3.9 in engineering, Becca Festinger graduating with a 3.88 in psychology, and other honored student-athletes in the areas of nursing, business, sociology and art/graphic design. I couldn't be prouder of these student-athletes, especially my seniors who are on to great things just ahead."
