CLERMONT, FL-Connecticut College scored the first seven goals of the game, raced out to a 12-1 halftime lead and went on to defeat the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team, 18-1, at the National Training Center Wednesday evening.
Sophomore midfielder Taylor Corsano (Bourne, MA/Bourne HS) scored the only goal for the Corsairs with 12:44 remaining in the first half. Izzy Marx and Lowell Abbott had three goals apiece for the Camels, while Maura Brazel had two goals and four assists.
"We really didn't produce offensively, but hopefully, we can use this as a learning experience and continue to get better," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Sarah Booker. "This week has been a great experience for us, although the scores may not reflect how much progress we've made in the time we've been here."
The Camels outshot UMD, 37-2. Junior goalkeeper Angelina Donovan (Medford, MA/Medford HS) made nine saves for the Corsairs, while Kelsey Burke and Jen Morgan combined to make one stop for CC.
UMass Dartmouth dropped to 2-3 with the defeat, while CC improved to 2-3 with the victory. The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Worcester State next Tuesday.
