NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team has been picked to finish sixth in the annual Little East Conference pre-season coaches' poll.
The Corsairs received 15 points in the poll, eight fewer than fifth-place Southern Maine and five more than Rhode Island College, which was picked to finish seventh.
Plymouth State, which was picked to finish first, received 48 votes and six first-place votes. Keene State was second with 40 points, and received the other first-place vote. Eastern Connecticut State and Western Connecticut State tied for third, with each team receiving 30 points.
"A preseason poll primarily reflects a team's performance during the preceding year," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Sarah Booker. "We are building on the positive aspects of our 2012 season, and we are returning some key upper class players while adding talented newcomers. This will help us begin our 2013 campaign to become a strong competitor in the Little East Conference."
The Corsairs will begin their 2013 season when they visit Mount Ida on Thursday, March 7th.
