Each team had scored in the first overtime period. Alexandra Milot put the Mustangs ahead, 11-10, with a free position shot with 1:30 remaining, but senior attacker Brittney Enos (East Falmouth, MA/Falmouth HS) returned the favor with her own free position shot 18 seconds later to tie the game for the final time.
The Corsairs rallied to send the game into overtime, overcoming a 10-8, fourth quarter deficit when junior Taylor Corsano (Bourne, MA/Bourne HS) scored with 6:16 remaining and Enos tied the game with 23 seconds to play.
Molly Sheppard scored three times as Mount Ida took a 7-2 lead with 1:12 to play in the first quarter, but the Corsairs held the Mustangs to three goals during the final 46 minutes of regulation play. Corsano scored five goals for UMass Dartmouth and Enos added four, while senior midfielder Denise Gates (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam HS) added five assists. Sheppard led the Mustangs with four goals, while Milot and Amanda Bowen each scored twice, while Kayla Bravo had two assists.
"We were able to pull together in the second half and chip away at the deficit that was created in the first half," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Sarah Booker. "I was pleased with our team effort towards the end, and our resilience on offense."
The Corsairs outshot the Mustangs, 29-26. Senior goalkeeper Angelina Donovan (Medford, MA/Medford HS) made 11 saves for UMD, while Kayla Musty made 13 for Mount Ida.
