NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA - Three members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's lacrosse team have earned weekly honors from the Little East Conference.
Junior midfielder Taylor Corsano (Bourne, MA/Bourne) was named Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, senior goalkeeper Angelina Donovan (Medford, MA/Medford) was chosen LEC Goalkeeper of the Week, and freshman attacker Colleen Kane (Arlington, MA/Arlington) was named Little East Rookie of the Week.
Corsano was also named the Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Region Offensive Player of the Week.
Corsano scored 10 goals and five assists for 15 points in the Corsairs' first two games as they defeated Mount Ida and Massachusetts Maritime. She scored five goals in each game, and also had seven draw controls and six ground balls.
Donovan posted an 8.89 goals against average and a 51.2 save percentage in UMass Dartmouth's victories against Mount Ida and Mass Maritime. She averaged 10.5 saves per game in the two games.
Kane scored seven goals and added two assists in the Corsairs' first two games of the season. She also had 14 draw controls and added 12 ground balls.
"Angel has been displaying a lot of confidence playing outside the net this year," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Sarah Booker. "In addition to making key saves, she has consistently been among the team leaders in ground balls and caused turnovers. She recorded four caused turnovers against Mass Maritime last week, and these plays have impacted our defense significantly."
"This is a well-deserved and overdue honor for Taylor," Booker added. "She is a key part of the attack as a goal-scorer and will continue to be a threat on both ends of the field."
"Colleen has quickly emerged as a standout player on the team," said Booker. "Her accurate shooting and game sense have made a difference in each of our games."
The Corsairs are 2-1 this season and return to action Thursday against Western New England.
