NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Visiting Worcester State outscored the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team in the second half, 12-3, and came from behind to defeat the Corsairs, 16-13, in a non-conference match at Cressy Field Thursday evening.

Freshman midfielder Allison O'Rourke (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth HS) gave the Corsairs their final lead of the game when she scored with 7:53 remaining. But Shannon Feeley scored twice within a minute and 10 seconds, putting the Lancers ahead, 14-13 with 6:15 remaining. Megan Rosborough and Abby Cosenza scored to account for the final margin.

WSC took a 4-0 lead in the first 10 minutes, but UMass Dartmouth scored the next 10 goals to take a 10-4 lead at halftime. O'Rourke scored five times in the first half, scoring the final two goals before halftime with 2:31 and 17 seconds remaining. Junior midfielder Kara Basque (Plainville, MA/King Philip Regional HS/Sacred Heart) scored 22 seconds into the second half, but the Lancers scored nine of eight of the next nine goals to tie the game at 12-12 with 9:07 left.

O'Rourke had six goals for the Corsairs, sophomore attacker Rachel Carlucci (Franklin, Ma/Franklin HS/SCSU) added three, and junior attacker Gillian Carey (Waltham, MA/Waltham HS/UMass) added two. Feeley had five goals for WSC, with Brittany Jamieson and Megan Rosborough each scoring three times.

The Lancers out shot the Corsairs, 39-31. UMass Dartmouth junior goalkeeper Liz Miller (Littleton, MA/Westford Academy/UNH) and the Lancers' Haley Erickson each made 13 saves.

"It was a disappointing loss," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jerry Jennings. "Our goalie, Liz Miller, played well, and she is improving, but overall, we need to be more focused."

The Corsairs dropped to 0-6 with the defeat, while the Lancers improved to 4-1 with the victory. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Framingham State Saturday. Worcester State will visit Westfield State Saturday.
