PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women’s soccer squad earned its first Little East Conference honors of the season on Monday, with senior goalkeeper Madison Boucher (Southampton, Mass.) named Goalkeeper of the Week and freshman Alexis Pacheco (Swansea, Mass.) named Rookie of the Week.
In Boucher’s third full game of the season on Saturday, the senior captain turned aside five shots as the Corsairs defeated Plymouth State in overtime on Saturday, 1-0. One of her stops came two minutes into extra time, keeping the Panthers off the board and leaving room for Pacheco to lift the Corsairs to victory. In three games on the season, Boucher is 2-1 in net with 20 saves and just three goals allowed. She owns the fourth-best goals against average in the LEC at 0.92.
Pacheco is now responsible for both of UMass Dartmouth’s wins on the season, as the freshman netted her second golden goal of the season on Saturday. Less than five minutes into extra time, she found the net to lift the Corsairs over Plymouth State in the LEC opener for both teams. Pacheco ranks second on the Corsair roster with four points, as she previously scored the golden goal in the season opener against Mount Holyoke on Sept. 1.
UMass Dartmouth (2-4-1, 1-0-0 LEC) sticks to the road on Saturday, traveling to Eastern Connecticut for a 1 p.m. start time in LEC competition.
