LEICESTER, Mass. -- Junior Ella Rath (Pawcatuck, Conn.) netted a pair of goals to lead UMass Dartmouth to a 3-1 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Becker Tuesday evening at Alumni Field.
Senior Taryn Carley (Kingston, Mass.) staked the visiting Corsairs (4-5-3) to a 1-0 lead just 9:34 into the match on a pass from freshman Sarah Vieira (Dartmouth, Mass.) for her second goal of the season, and Rath extended that margin to 2-0 less than five minutes later on a feed from senior Courtney Hewitt (North Attleboro, Mass.). Senior Lindsey Keith (Sutton, Mass.) sliced the host Hawks’ (5-4-2) deficit in half just 55 seconds after intermission with her 12th tally of the fall, but Rath closed out the scoring with her second of the night (and sixth of the season) with 4:47 remaining in the contest on a free kick from 25 yards out to account for the final margin.
Senior Korina Miguel (New Bedford, Mass.) picked up her first win of the season in goal with a four-save effort in the triumph for UMass Dartmouth, while senior Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass.) made six first half stops in the setback for Becker. Freshman Lyndsey Cobb-Williams (Elmira, N.Y.) recorded two second half saves for the Hawks, as the Corsairs outshot the hosts by a 21-13 margin overall (11-5 on goal) and held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks for the contest.
