PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Senior Korina Miguel (New Bedford, Mass.) made a career-high 10 saves to record her first career shutout, as UMass Dartmouth extended its unbeaten streak to five straight by battling Johnson & Wales to a scoreless double overtime draw in a non-league college women’s soccer match played Monday evening at Scotts Miracle Gro Field.
Miguel recorded six second half stops to go with a pair of saves in each extra session for the visiting Corsairs (5-5-4), as the host Wildcats (10-5-1) held a 35-5 edge in total shots for the contest (10-2 on goal) while taking 12 of 15 corner kicks in the contest. Junior Colleen Lynch (New Milford, Conn.) made a pair of saves to pick up the clean sheet in net for Johnson & Wales, which saw its seven-match winning streak halted but its unbeaten string extended to eight straight.
UMass Dartmouth heads back to Providence on Wednesday evening to square off with Rhode Island College in a Little East Conference clash beginning at 6:00 pm, while Johnson & Wales hosts Suffolk in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference outing on Wednesday evening at Scotts Miracle Gro Field that begins at 7:00 pm.
