CAMBRIDGE, MA-MIT scored twice in the first 14 minutes and blanked the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's soccer team, 5-0, in a non-conference match at Roberts Field Tuesday afternoon.
Edith Reshef headed home a shot in the fifth minute to put the Engineers ahead, then Alisha Lussiez scored from six yards out to make it 2-0 in the 14th minute. Liz Theurer made it 3-0 with a goal in the 47th minute, then Emily Kuo scored a pair of goals within 59 seconds midway through the second half to complete the scoring. Kuo finished with two goals and three assists for MIT.
The Engineers out shot UMD, 19-13. Junior goalkeeper Tanya Braga (Hudson, MA/Hudson HS) and freshman keeper Jen Warren (Somerset, MA/Bishop Feehan HS) combined to make eight saves, while MIT's duo of Katy Olesnavage and Meghan Wright combined for seven.
MIT improved to 3-2 with the win, while the Corsairs dropped to 3-3 with the defeat. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Rhode Island College Saturday afternoon.
