MANSFIELD, CT-Host Eastern Connecticut State scored three goals in the second half and blanked the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's soccer team, 4-0, in a Little East Conference match at the Mansfield Outdoor Athletic Complex Saturday afternoon.
Daniella Marchitto gave the Warriors a 1-0 when she scored the first of her two goals in the 26th minute, tapping home a cross. Her second goal of the match, on a shot from inside the box in the 54th minute, made it 2-0. Sarah Swann scored 42 seconds later to make it 3-0, then she finished the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 68th minute.
ECSU out shot UMD, 16-6. Freshman goalkeeper Jen Warren (Somerset, MA/Bishop Feehan HS) and junior goalkeeper Tanya Braga (Hudson, MA/Hudson HS) each played a half and combined to make two saves for the Corsairs, while Kim Church and Theresa Pagnozzi combined to make four saves for the Warriors.
UMass Dartmouth dropped to 6-9-1 and 2-4-0 in the Little East Conference with the defeat, while Eastern Connecticut improved to 9-4-3 and 4-1-1 with the victory. The Corsairs will return to action when they host Worcester State Tuesday. UMASS DARTMOUTH SOCCER
