NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's softball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader with visiting Salve Regina at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Monday. The Seahawks won the first game, 5-4 in eight innings, and then took the nightcap, 3-2.
The Seahawks took a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth on a two-run home run to deep left field by junior first baseman Jillian Quintana (Denver, CO/Littleton HS). UMass Dartmouth had a runner in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't bring her home, resulting in the 3-2 loss for the Corsairs. Kenyon threw the first four innings for UMD, giving up one run on three hits. Senior pitcher Brittany Eldridge (7-6, Raynham, MA/Bridgewater-Raynham HS) went the final four innings, allowing two unearned runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Cruver threw her second complete game of the day, giving up two runs on six hits with three strikeouts.
