DARTMOUTH, Mass. – University of Massachusetts Dartmouth senior Chrissy Deveaux (North Andover, Mass.) and sophomore David Adamski (Wilbraham, Mass.) both collected weekly accolades on Tuesday, earning New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Swimmer of the Week honors from the national publication CollegeSwimming.com.
Both Corsair teams competed in their final meet of the semester last Saturday, traveling to Clark University. Deveaux collected a pair of individual victories and a relay win to lead the women’s squad, including a season-best time of 2:08.53 in the 200-yard freestyle. In the 500-yard version, she topped the field of five with a time of 5:39.96, edging her Clark competitor by under a second. The senior captain additionally teamed with sophomores Molly Harrington (Tewksbury, Mass.), Sarah Murphy (Braintree, Mass.) and Abigail Wilson (Newburyport, Mass.) to defeat two Cougar squads in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in 1:59.85.
Adamski was also victorious in all three of his events last Saturday, leading the UMass Dartmouth men to a 150-92 dual-meet win over the Cougars. The Corsairs opened the event with a 200-yard medley relay win thanks to Adamski, freshman Justin Chung (Roslindale, Mass.), senior Devin Farnsworth (Leominster, Mass.) and senior Derek Marshall (Marion, Mass.) timing in at 1:43.99. Individually, Adamski blew away the competition in the long freestyle events with a pair of season-best times, claiming the 500-yard version in 5:01.48 and the 1000-yard race in 10:31.81.
Both UMass Dartmouth teams will be back in the pool following the holiday break, competing in a tri-meet with WPI and host Wheaton in Norton, Mass. on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
