NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's swimming team scored 124 points, and finished fourth in a field of five teams at the Little East Swimming Championships at the Tripp Athletic Center Pool Saturday afternoon.
UMass Dartmouth finished five points ahead of Plymouth State. Keene State finished first with 508 points, Eastern Connecticut State was second with 308, and Western Connecticut State was third with 266 points.
Sophomore Danielle Sanko (Leicester, MA/Leicester HS) led the way for the Corsairs. She was the conference champion in three-meter diving with 204.10 points, and finished second in one-meter diving with 206.40 points. Sophomore Kelly Channell (Beverly, MA/Beverly HS) was fourth in one-meter diving with 165.85 points.
Senior Lisa Sands (Taunton, MA/Taunton HS/UMass) was third in the 400 yard individual medley at 5:09.96, and fourth in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:24.93. Junior Kathleen Foley (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill HS) was fifth in both the 100 yard breaststroke (1:13.89) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:38.48), and junior Kaitlyn Kewriga (Stoughton, MA/Stoughton HS) was fifth in the 100 yard backstroke (1:09.27) and seventh in the 200 yard backstroke (2:30.88). Freshman Brittany Dupuis (Milford, MA/Milford HS) was sixth in the 50 yard freestyle in 27.87 seconds, sophomore Lindsay Little (Danvers, MA/Danvers HS) seventh in the 50 yard freestyle in 27.90 seconds), and freshman Kim Moore (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS) eighth in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:57.31.
"We swam well today," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "Many of our swimmers swam personal best times, and most swam seasonal best times. We were pleased with our performance today. The final place in the meet does not reflect the effort and the performance of our team." The action was the final competition of the fall semester for the Corsairs. They will return to action when they host Simmons on Tuesday, January 13th.
