Swimmers Advance at NEISDA Championships

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT-Eleven University of Massachusetts Dartmouth swimmers and two relay teams advanced to the finals on the second day of action at the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Division II and III Championships at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center Friday.
For the women, freshman Morgan Cooper (Sunderland, MA/Frontier Regional HS) was sixth in the 50 yard butterfly in 28.43 seconds, freshman Maggie Conlon (Methuen, MA/Methuen HS) was 10th in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.66 and 14th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.74, and senior Kathleen Foley (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill HS) was seventh in the 100brfeaststroke in 1:11.63. The 200 yard medley relay team of Conlon, Foley, Cooper and junior Lindsay Little (Danvers, MA/Danvers HS) was eighth in 1:59.22.
For the men, junior Craig Johnson (Acushnet, MA/New Bedford HS) was second in the 50 yard butterfly in 54.30 seconds, freshman Jake Pesante (Wakefield, RI/South Kingston HS) was eighth in the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:49.64, freshman Chris Dodge (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional HS) was 12th in the 100 yard backstroke in 59.33 seconds, junior Steve Szarek (Middletown, CT/Middletown HS) was fifth in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:02.10 and 11th in the 400 yard individual medley in 4:50.01, freshman Matt Dean (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry HS) was 10th in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:04.36, junior Joe Krzystofik (Chicopee, MA/Chicopee HS) was 10th in the 400 yard individual medley in 4:49.19 while freshman Kevin Janofsky (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield HS) was 12th in 4:51.77, and junior David Adams (Tyngsboro, MA/ Tyngsboro HS) was 10th in the 50 yard butterfly in 25.19 seconds. The 200 yard medley relay team of Dodge, Szarek, Johnson and Dean was fourth in 1:43.40.
The meet will conclude Sunday.
