Kathleen Foley Just Off School Record at NEISDA Championships

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-One University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's swimmer just missed the school record and another finished ninth in the 1000 freestyle on the second day of action at the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Division II and III Championships at the Tripp Athletic Center Saturday.
Junior Kathleen Foley (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill HS) finished 11th in the 100 breaststroke and qualified for the finals. Her time of 1:11.59 was five-hundredths of a second off the school record.
Freshman Kim Moore (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS) finished ninth in the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:37.25.
Joining Foley in qualifying for the finals were senior Lisa Sands (Taunton, MA/Taunton HS/UMass), fourth in the 400 individual medley trials in 5:06.54, freshman Gina Zanarini (Springfield, MA/Cathedral HS), who was 14th in the 400 individual medley trials in 5:18.74, and the 200 yard medley relay team of junior Kaitlyn Kewriga (Stoughton, MA/Stoughton HS), Foley, Sands and sophomore Lindsay Little (Danvers, MA/Danvers HS), which qualified for the finals by finishing 16th in 2:00.93.
"A lot of our people are coming back for finals," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "We're hoping to move up in the standings, and I'm sure we will, since we have a lot of people who will be swimming."
The meet will conclude Sunday.
