WALTHAM, MA-Host Bentley defeated the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's swimming team in a dual meet at the Dana Center pool Saturday afternoon. The Falcons won the men's competition, 134-100, and took the women's meet, 140-89.
For the women, freshman Chelsea Hopkins-Pottle (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS) qualified for the New England Championships when she finished fourth in one meter diving with a score of 177.00. For the men, senior Craig Johnson (Acushnet, MA/New Bedford HS) took the 100 yard butterfly in 57.38 seconds, while sophomore Matt Dean (Londonderry, NH/Londonderry HS) won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:06.49.
"Overall, we swam well, but we were just not strong enough against Bentley," said U Mass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "We had some good swims. We're looking forward to the Thanksgiving break, and to the upcoming Little East and ECAC Championships." The Corsairs will return to action when the men visit the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships, and the women host the Little East Conference championships in two weeks.
