Chelsea Hopkins-Pottle is LEC Rookie Diver of the Year

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-For the second consecutive season, a member of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's swimming team has been named Little East Conference Rookie Diver of the Year.

Freshman Chelsea Hopkins-Pottle (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS) was honored in a vote of the coaches in the conference. Her teammate, sophomore Cecilia Rius (Rockville, MD/Richard Montgomery HS), won the award last year.

At the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships, Hopkins-Pottle was 10th in the one meter competition with 252.65 points. The top freshman diver at the LEC Championships, Hopkins-Pottle was second in the one meter competition with 178.15 points, and was fourth in the three meter competition with 143.55 points. Her performance earned her All-Conference honors.

"Our divers were fantastic," said UMass Dartmouth Diving Coach Danielle Morley after the NEISDA Championships. "All of our divers did well."
