Cecilia Rius Earns LEC Post-Season Honor

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Freshman diver Cecilia Rius (Rockville, MD/Richard Montgomery HS) has been honored by the Little East Conference.

Rius has been named LEC Freshman Diver of the Year.

Rius was the top Little East freshman diver in one meter competition at the 2010 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships, placing eighth overall with 330.75 points. She finished first in one meter competition in our meets prior to the regional championship, defeating her opponents from Colby-Sawyer, Plymouth State, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Regis. Rius scored more than 200 points three times during the season, including a season-best 209.35 point performance against Simmons January 24th. Rius finished third in both the one and three-meter events at the LEC Championships in December, and was named LEC Diver of the Week four times this season, while also earning Rookie Diver of the Week honors.

"Cecilia Rius had a successful season as a freshman," said UMass Dartmouth Diving Coach Danielle Morley. "She is a very talented diver who has yet to reach her full potential. We can expect to see big things from Cecilia over the next three years."
