How it Happened

In doubles, UMass Dartmouth's pairs won all three matches by the 8-1 final. It started when the team of junior Jenna Lahaie (Lakeville, Mass.) and sophomore Jaime Fastino (Rehoboth, Mass.) upended Stephanie LeBlanc (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Kelsie Merrill (Hope, Maine). Seniors Mollie McCaffrey (Taunton, Mass.) and Jillian Reichert (Marion, Mass.) made it two straight, topping Sadara Cash-Sortwell (South Portland, Maine) and Alexandra Petrucci (Wakefield, Mass.). Twin sisters Michelle Aftandilian and Rachel Aftandilian (Watertown, Mass.) rounded out doubles, seeing action together for the first time in a collegiate match and rolling to an 8-1 decision over their opponents.

In singles, the Corsairs kept sailing as Lahaie and Kerry Magoon (Marshfield, Mass.) earned the team its second-straight victory after respective 6-1,6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 scores. McCaffrey picked up her seventh singles win of the season after getting the best of LeBlanc in a 6-2, 6-0 match score. UMass Dartmouth completed singles action in decisive fashion as senior Samantha Rollings (Tiverton, R.I.), Fastino and Molina Oung (Bourne, Mass.) came out on top of their matches in straight-sets.
