Dartmouth, Mass. --  Seven members of the UMass Dartmouth men’s and women’s tennis teams have been named as Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes for their efforts in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition, student-athletes must be a varsity letterwinner, have achieved a minimum 3.50 grade point average for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters.

Senior Zach Pavao (Somerset, Mass./Somerset-Berkley), along with freshmen John Fratus (Yarmouth, Mass./Monomoy Regional) and Pat O’Neil (Somerset, Mass./Somerset-Berkley), represented the Corsair men on this year’s ITA squad, while seniors Mollie McCaffrey (Taunton, Mass./Taunton), Samantha Rollings (Tiverton, R.I./Tiverton) and Jillian Reichert (Marion, Mass./Old Rochester) joined sophomore Jamie Fastino (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth) in representing the Corsair women’s program.

UMass Dartmouth was one of four Little East Conference institutions to receive ITA Academic Awards for the past year, as Head Coach Doug Chapman guided the Corsair women’s team to 10 overall victories (six in LEC action) and a berth in the league semifinals last fall.  Head Coach Karsten Rathlev’s men’s squad posted nine overall victories (four in Little East play) and also advanced to the conference semifinals this past spring.
