DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Three individuals collected wins in both singles and doubles action to lead UMass Dartmouth to a 7-2 non-league college women’s tennis dual-match victory over Clark Wednesday afternoon on the UMD Courts.
Senior Jenna Lahaie (Lakeville, Mass.) and junior Monika Reining (Linsengericht, Germany) claimed straight set triumphs at the number one and five singles spots, respectively, for the host Corsairs (9-4), who received a trio of three-set victories from junior Jaime Fastino (Rehoboth, Mass.), sophomore Michelle Aftandilian (Watertown, Mass.) and freshman Jackie Bokis (Spencer, Mass.) at the second, third and sixth singles positions. Lahaie earned her 40th career doubles victory after she teamed up with Fastino for a 9-7 triumph at the number one spot, while Reining and junior Natasha Shiku (North Grafton, Mass.) accounted for UMass Dartmouth’s other point of the day with an 8-1 win at number two doubles.
Senior Maggie Tarbox (Lebanon, Conn.) was victorious in both singles and doubles play in the setback for the visiting Cougars (2-6), as she posted a straight set win at number four singles after teaming up with junior Chloe Dunnell (Montclair, N.J.) for an 8- 2 triumph at number three doubles for Clark.
UMass Dartmouth travels to Castleton, Vt. on Saturday afternoon to take on Castleton in a Little East Conference dual-match beginning at 2:00 pm, while Clark resumes its 2018-19 schedule on Saturday, March 30, 2019 by heading to Norton, Mass. to take on Wheaton in a New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference dual-match.
