NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- After earning three awards from the Little East Conference at Sunday's Little East Conference women's tennis championships, sophomore Amy Lopes (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team has been honored once more by the Little East Conference.
For the second time this season, Lopes has been named Little East Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Lopes went 6-0 last week, winning each of her matches in both singles and doubles against Southern Maine, Western Connecticut State and Bridgewater State as the Corsairs won the Little East Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Championships this spring. For the season, Lopes finished 12-0 in singles and 12-1 in doubles.
"Amy has proved her worth all year," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Ralph Perry. "She is definitely battle-tested against some good competition. Her skills and her attitude are the complete package for a tennis player."
UMass Dartmouth finished with a 15-1 record this season and will play in the NCAA Tournament next May.
