NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Freshman Juliet Levangie (Middleboro, MA/Coyle-Cassidy HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's tennis team has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Levangie was named Little East Conference Women's Tennis Rookie Player of the Week.
Levangie defeated Shaine Cyr at number one singles, 6-0, 6-1, and teamed with junior Blair Dalrymple (North Attleboro, MA/North Attleboro HS) to defeat Lacey Mailman and Megan Cooper at number three doubles, 8-1, as the defending champion Corsairs won their second consecutive LEC match Saturday by winning at Plymouth State, 8-1. The matches were the first for Levangie at UMD.
"As an incoming freshman, she's earned her way into the lineup," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Ralph Perry. "Now that she's healthy and playing solidly at number six for us, I have high expectations, and so does she. She has a great attitude, and nice strokes, and if she continues to win, it will help our team tremendously."
UMass Dartmouth is 3-0 and will return to action when they visit Simmons Thursday.
