NCAAs: Chauvin Places 10th In The Weight Throw
LINCOLN, Neb. -- University of Massachusetts Dartmouth senior Krista Chauvin (Seekonk, Mass.) placed 10th overall in the weight throw event on Day 1 of the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships from the University of Nebraska's Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Making her debut at the national indoor championship meet, Chauvin registered a mark of 16.51 meters (54-02.00) on her third and final attempt in the prelminary round. The top-nine student-athletes in the preliminary heat advanced to the final. Wisconsin-Stevens Point senior Maggie Martin secured the ninth and final spot with a toss of 16.70 meters (54-09.50).
Williams College senior Amina Avril captured the national title with a throw of 20.01 meters (65-07.75), outdistancing Wisconsin-Whitewater junior Shelby Mahr's mark of 18.54 meters (60-10.00).
