WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's 4x100-meter relay team set a new program record on the final day of the 2014 New England Open Championships this afternoon on the campus of Westfield State University.
The UMass Dartmouth quartet of sophomore Barbara Okafor (Hyde Park, Mass.), classmate Michel-Le Meranda (Somerville, Mass.), senior Ezra Banks (Roxbury, Mass.), and sophomore LaQuaysia Anderson-Jenkins (Brighton, Mass.) combined to post a time of 48.08 seconds. The current Corsairs broke the previous record that was set by Okafor, senior Jillian Van Ness (Agawam, Mass.), Meranda, and Anderson-Jenkins in 2013.
UMass Dartmouth did not register a team score in the championship field comprised of NCAA Division I, II, and III members.
