UMass Dartmouth Competes in Sean Collier Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's track and field team competed at the Sean Collier Invitational on the campus of MIT on Saturday afternoon.

Junior LaQuaysia Anderson-Jenkins (Brighton, Mass.) placed third in the 200 meter with a time of 26.23. In the 400 meter dash. Summer Jones (East Bridgewater, Mass.) tripped the timer at 1:01.03 for third, while sophomore Meaghan Shurtleff (Dartmouth, Mass.) generated a third place distance of 10.46 meters in the triple jump.

The Corsair relay teams turned in strong performances as the 4x400 team crossed the finish line with a second place time of 4:10.52, while the 4x100 team covered the distance in 50.18 for third place.

Senior Bailey Burke (South Yarmouth, Mass.) produced a trio of top-eight finishes for UMass Dartmouth. Burke took fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 46.25 meters, eighth in the shot put (10.61m) and eighth in the discus (32.84m).   

The Corsairs are back in action on Saturday, April 25, when they compete in the Little Conference Championships at Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, Mass.
