BOSTON, Mass. -- Junior Jess O’Reilly (Millis, Mass.) ran the seventh fastest indoor 3,000 meter time in school history for the UMass Dartmouth women’s indoor track & field team on Friday afternoon at the all-divisions Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic.
O’Reilly posted a time of 10:31.93 to place 61st in a field of 89 competitors from across all three NCAA divisions as well as several unattached runners, as she topped her previous best time by 11 seconds. Junior MacKenzie Garvey (Plymouth, Mass.) also shined in the shot put for the Corsairs, as she finished 16th in a field of 40 competitors with a mark of 11.82 meters/38 feet, 9 ½ inches.
UMass Dartmouth returns to action next weekend when the Corsairs compete at the Open New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury, Mass. beginning on Friday afternoon. The Corsairs will also travel to Middletown, Conn. next Saturday, February 2nd to compete at the Wesleyan Invitational.
