NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- Freshman Kristina Lundquist (Yarmouthport, MA/ Dennis-Yarmouth HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's indoor track and field team has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Lundquist was named Little East Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the MIT Pentathlon last Saturday.
Lundquist finished second in the overall competition with 2382 points. In her first collegiate pentathlon competition, she ran the 55 meter hurdles in 9.48 seconds, high jumped four feet, 4 ¼ inches, threw the shot 29 feet, one inch, long jumped 15 feet, 6 ¼ inches, and ran 800 meters in 3:04.44. She qualified for the New England Division III Championships in both the pentathlon and the 55 meter hurdles as a result of her performance.
"Kristina turned in a really solid performance for her first college pentathlon," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve Gardiner. "It speaks well for her high school coach, Jim Hoar, who taught her well. It's a credit to him and his program. Kristina has room for improvement, but it's a nice start."
The Corsairs, who will return to action when they visit the Sorlien Invitational at Rhode Island this weekend.
