NEW ORLEANS, LA-For the first time in recent memory, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's indoor track and field teams have earned regional rankings.

The men are ranked second in the New England Region and the women are rated ninth in rankings released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The men received 192. 27 points in the ranking. Tufts was ranked first with 266.84 points. The women received 90.21 points. MIT was first with 236.52 points.

"In reality, it doesn't mean anything until we perform on the track and in the field, and at the championships," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve Gardiner. "It is nice to be recognized for the work that our young men and women have done, not only this year, but in prior years leading up to this point. It's good to know they're recognized by people in the northeast and in our region."

The Corsairs visit Boston University this weekend.
