Corsairs Earn Post-Season Women's Track Awards

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's indoor track and field team have earned Little East Conference post-season honors.

Freshman Ezra Banks (Boston, MA/Newton South HS) has been named Little East Conference Women's Rookie Track Athlete of the Year, and freshman Jessica Masse (Somerville, MA/Somerville HS) has been named LEC Women's Rookie Field Athlete of the Year. They are the first Corsairs to win LEC women's indoor track and field major awards.

Banks finished first in the Little East Conference and third in the New England Alliance at 55 meters in 7.49 seconds, and broke the school 60 meter dash record when she finished in 7.97 seconds at the Tufts Invitational. She qualified for the ECAC Division III Championships and the New England Division III Championships in the 55 meter dash, and was named LEC Rookie Women's Track Athlete of the Week four times.

Masse finished third in the shot put at the Harvard Open with a throw of 42 feet, 6 inches, that not only broke the school record, but also allowed her to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. She finished first at the LEC/Alliance Championships with a meet record throw of 40 feet, six inches, was third at the New England Division III Championships at 40-6 3/4, and she was named LEC Rookie Women's Field Athlete of the Week seven times.

The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Northeastern Saturday.
